The most recent France air traffic control strike will cause a number of flights to and from Dublin Airport to be cancelled tomorrow.
Michael O’Leary, the CEO of Ryanair, said yesterday that his company would cancel 220 flights around Europe.
Although a Ryanair spokeperson was unable to provide an exact list of the flights impacted, sources in the air transportation industry told that between 25 and 35 flights arriving at and departing from Dublin Airport will be affected, RTÉ News reprted.
The “fluid” situation, according to the same air sector sources, has resulted in the cancellation of five incoming flights, five leaving flights, and a few Aer Lingus flights as of this morning. Additional cancellations are anticipated to be confirmed during the day, they said.
The operator of Dublin Airport, daa, issued the following statement through a spokesperson: “Passengers should contact their airline for updates on any flights they plan to cancel as a result of the French air traffic controllers strike on Monday.”
At the airports in Cork and Belfast, additional cancellations are also anticipated.
Since the beginning of spring, French workers have been striking regularly in opposition to President Emmanuel Macron’s plans to raise the country’s retirement age from 62 to 64.
