Nestlé recalls another batch of baby formula over toxin concern

Nestlé has issued another recall of baby formula in Ireland after a toxin was detected in a specific batch.

The recall αφορά 800g packs of SMA First Infant Milk with:

  • Batch code: 53390346AB

  • Expiry date: December 2027

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has warned parents and carers not to use the affected product.

Why is the product being recalled?

Testing found the presence of cereulide, a toxin produced by the bacterium Bacillus cereus. Consumption of food containing this toxin can cause:

  • Severe vomiting

  • Nausea

Symptoms may begin within five hours of consumption and can last up to 24 hours. Infants and young children are particularly vulnerable.

What should parents do?

Customers who have purchased the affected batch should:

  • Stop using the product immediately

  • Contact Nestlé through its online form and upload a photo showing the product and batch code:
    https://www.nestle.co.uk/en-gb/getintouch

  • Or contact the Nestlé Care Line: 1800 931 832

The FSAI said retailers have been instructed to remove the affected batch from sale and display recall notices.
