Rhasidat Adeleke Sets New Irish 100m Record

Rhasidat Adeleke has made headlines by breaking Ireland’s 100m national record. Competing at the National Senior Track and Field Championships at Morton Stadium, Adeleke finished the race in 11.13 seconds. This achievement adds to her impressive record, as she now holds the national records for the 100m, 200m, and 400m events.

Adeleke, a native of Tala, has been a standout athlete for Ireland, winning three medals at the recent European Athletics Championships. The previous 100m record was 11.27 seconds, held by Sarah Lavin. At the championships, Lavin finished second with a time of 11.37 seconds, while Mollie O’Reilly came in third at 11.61 seconds.

Looking ahead, Adeleke will represent Ireland in the 400m at the upcoming Olympics in Paris next summer. Her recent performance highlights her as a top contender and a source of national pride for Ireland in the athletics world.
