New Opportunity For Registered Nurses In Ireland To Pursue Midwifery

Galway, Ireland – The Department of Health, in collaboration with Saolta, is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for registered general nurses in Ireland to embark on a fulfilling career in midwifery. Applications are now open for the post-graduate Higher Diploma in Midwifery program, which is part of the HSE Sponsorship and Recruitment Programme.

This 18-month program is designed for registered nurses looking to transition into the field of midwifery. Selection for the program will be based on professional learning and nursing experience. The curriculum will encompass 26 weeks of practical training and 54 weeks of invaluable clinical practice.

Medbh Hughes, the post-registration midwifery program coordinator, highlighted the importance of this initiative. “We are thrilled to offer this opportunity to registered nurses who aspire to become midwives. The program will provide comprehensive training and hands-on experience,” she said.
