New Relief Measures for Foreign Nurses in Ireland’s Registration Process

In a bid to ease the registration process for foreign nurses in Ireland, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) has introduced new measures. Nurses from countries like India, applying for registration, can now submit valid English language test results at the decision letter stage. This comes as a relief for many applicants, especially those facing expired test results due to delays caused by the pandemic.

Previously, nurses had to ensure their English language test results were valid at the time of application. However, with the new policy, applicants can now submit these results later in the process. Migrant Nurses Ireland (MNI) played a crucial role in highlighting this issue to NMBI, leading to the implementation of these changes.

Applicants are reminded to start the compensation measure within 12 months from the decision letter date and apply for registration within two months from the provisional acceptance date. Additionally, NMBI has extended the validity of decision letters issued since March 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
