Polls Open for Local and European Elections, and Mayoral Vote

Polling stations opened at 7 am on Friday for the local and European elections, as well as the country’s first direct mayoral election. Voters can cast their ballots until 10 pm tonight.

To vote, individuals must bring a valid photo ID, such as a passport, driver’s license, public service card, or an employee or student card. Art O’Leary, Chief Executive of the Electoral Commission, emphasized the significance of voting.

“Voting is so important. Your vote is your voice,” O’Leary stated. “It is how you express your view on the kind of people that you would like to represent you, both at local authority and the European Parliament.”

Voters are encouraged to participate and make their voices heard in these important elections.
