“The Dublin Artists Collective” (DDAC) a page by artists for artists of Indian origin currently residing in Dublin in association with Embassy of India, Dublin is conducting first version of RANG – an art exhibition by a group of artists from April 2nd to April 10th, 2021.
The story behind – THE DUBLIN DESI ARTISTS COLLECTIVE (DDAC) and SAMYAMA / RANG
On one occasion after a discussion with The Indian Ambassador, Sandeep Kumar – an artist in Dublin, Ms.Vidya Vivek realised that there was no one single group or association which represents artists of Indian origin here in Dublin. There are of course various events hosted by regional Indian communities during festivals where there is an opportunity to showcase their arts but no event exclusively for arts.
Vidya floated the idea around in a few groups and then The Dublin Desi Artists Collective(DDAC) was formed. Few like minded artists had many discussions about this and a collective decision was taken to give a platform to Indian artists to showcase their creations and give the opportunity to network among them.
This the group decided to conduct Samyama – festival of arts. As part of which our first event is RANG – Online Group Art Exhibition
SAMYAMA means bonding/ integration, here Arts and nationality is the bond binding all our fellow artists together.RANG means ‘colour’, what better name for an event which will project colourful artworks that too around Holi – the festival of colours.
The Embassy of India, Dublin has extended support to this exhibition and the platform “The Dublin Desi Artists Collective” will be a launch Pad for many upcoming artists to showcase their talents and network with their fellow Indian artists here in Dublin.
