Katie-George Dunlevy and pilot Eve McCrystal continued their golden victory in Tokyo Paralympics cycling following Rio in 2016. The pair won gold once again in B Time Trial Final this morning finishing with a time of 47:320.7. They had already won a silver in in the B 3000m Individual Pursuit on Saturday.
“It means the world to me, working for five years towards this. We wanted to come here and retain the title but really wanted to get the best out of ourselves and have a good ride and hope that would give us a medal and then a gold medal.” Katie-George Dunlevy said following the victory.
“Just for kids or adults at home with a visual impairment, that our success today shows that you can do anything you want to do. There is nothing you can’t do. This might inspire them and I know it gives pride to the people at home and just up lift people after two of the pandemic.” she added.
Apart from this, Ireland also won a bronze medal in H5 Road Time Trial today morning through Gary O’Reilly. He finished the race in 39:36.46 and won medal in his first Paralympic game.
So far Irish team have secured six medals in Tokyo including three gold, two silver and a bronze.
