As the vaccine rollout gather more pace in the EU, the EU’s executive branch considers easing of travel restrictions in its member countries. Currently, countries with very low infection rate are allowed to enter the EU and with the coming of summer they are hoping to expand the list of these countries.
EU will be discussing this matter with the member states the coming week and hopefully this may come into effect by June. The members can decide on their own on accepting travellers who are properly vaccinated. The Commission also thinks on raising the threshold on the number of Covid cases to determine the countries from which travel should be permitted.
EU officials are also thinking to introduce Covid 19 certificates which they think could facilitate travel across the regions. The digital green certificate is also under consideration as it will also be delivered to the residents in EU to prove their vaccination status and their Covid negative test results.
