Simon Harris Takes Over Finance Portfolio in Major Cabinet Reshuffle

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has announced a Cabinet reshuffle. Simon Harris will become the new Minister for Finance after Paschal Donohoe stepped down. Mr Donohoe is leaving the role to take up a new job at the World Bank.

Helen McEntee will move from the Department of Education to become the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence. This is the position Simon Harris previously held.

Hildegarde Naughton has been promoted to Cabinet and will now serve as Minister for Education and Youth.

Emer Higgins will take on a new role as Minister of State for disability at the Department of Children.

Speaking in the Dáil, Mr Martin congratulated Paschal Donohoe, praising his work in several key ministerial roles and his leadership in the Eurogroup. He said Donohoe’s new appointment reflects the strong reputation Ireland has earned internationally.
