Workers at South Dublin County Council, who are members of the Fórsa trade union, will begin industrial action on March 24 in protest against outsourcing, RTE reported.

As part of the dispute, workers will participate in lunchtime protests and refuse to carry out specific tasks.
Their actions will include withdrawing engagement with South Dublin County Councillors, ceasing communication via emails and phones, and abstaining from council meetings.
Additionally, they will not attend meetings related to outsourcing or engage with external private consultants or companies on the matter. Staff will also decline to take on responsibilities linked to vacant posts or higher-grade duties.
In a letter to the council’s Chief Executive, Fórsa Assistant General Secretary Maura Cahalan stated that the union remains open to discussions on reasonable and legitimate requests for derogations.
