Spring Covid-19 booster programme begins for vulnerable groups

The HSE has launched its spring Covid-19 booster vaccination programme, targeting those most at risk of severe illness.

The free vaccines will be available through participating GPs and pharmacists, while children under 12 can receive their doses at community vaccination clinics.

Eligible groups include people aged 80 and old, immunocompromised individuals aged six months and older, adults aged 18 and older in residential care facilities for older adults.

Additionally, those aged 70 to 79 who haven’t received a Covid-19 vaccine in the past year are encouraged to get the booster.

Dr. Louise Marron from the HSE National Immunisation Office emphasised that vaccination is the best protection against serious illness, helping to restore immunity and prevent complications from Covid-19.
