Storm Barra has caused disruptions across the country with wind at a speed of 130 km/h and heavy raining on Tuesday. The ESB has said that 59,000 homes, businesses and farms face power failure.
Trees have fallen out on electric lines due to heavy wind and it is expected that some people will remain without power on Wednesday and possibly into the coming days.
The defence force is helping out to clear debris on roads which cause transport disruptions in many parts of the country.
Schools in counties where red and orange alerts are still in place are advised to stay closed on Wednesday as well. The counties are Wexford, Waterford, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal and Dublin.
The schools in counties where yellow warning is in place can open today but the managements have to conduct checks of possible live electric wires and other debris around school premises. Also if local issues pertaining storm come up, the managements can take action to close the schools.
The drivers around the country are advised to continue taking precautions as visibility might be low and roads can be slippery.

Irish Coast Guard warnings not to go for swimming and walks on beach are also in place.
