Ireland braces for the impact of Storm Kathleen today as the Meteorological Department issues warnings across the country. A yellow alert blankets the nation starting from 8 am this morning.
Specifically, an orange warning is in effect for counties Cork, Kerry, and Waterford until 2 pm, with Galway and Mayo facing the same from 9 am to 6 pm.
Experts caution that powerful southerly winds may lead to accidents in various regions. Travel disruptions, power outages, and coastal flooding are anticipated. Citizens are advised to minimize time spent in buildings due to the risk of falling trees and airborne debris during the storm.
Additionally, swimming or entering water bodies is strongly discouraged, as is any contact with downed power lines.
Northern Ireland’s Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, and Derry counties are also under warnings until 10 pm.
