American pop singer Taylor Swift has maintained her coveted double chart dominance for a second consecutive week.
The pop megastar’s tenth studio album Midnights and it’s lead single Anti-Hero both stayed at number one.
She faced competition this week from The Beatles at number two with a reissue of Revolver, which held the top spot for seven weeks in a row in 1966.
According to the Official Charts Company, Swift’s electronica-style album has surpassed Harry Styles’ chart-topping Harry’s House to become the year’s fastest-selling album thus far. Harry’s House had previously held the title of 2022.
The 32-year-old artist overtook Madonna to set a new official chart record by achieving the fastest succession of nine UK number-one albums of any female artist.
Midnights follows Swift’s previous eight UK chart-topping albums, all achieved consecutively: 2012’s Red, 2014 release 1989, 2017’s Reputation, 2019’s Lover, 2020’s Folklore, 2020’s Evermore and re-recordings Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version), both released in 2021.
The Beatles currently hold the record with nine number-one singles in five years and seven months.
