The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is battling a technical issue preventing driving instructors from uploading learner progress due to a system limitation with seven-digit log book codes.
Key Issues:
- RSA ran out of six-digit log book numbers in December
- New seven-digit codes cannot be processed in current system
- Instructors cannot upload lesson records
- Learners may be unable to book driving tests without logged lessons
The RSA acknowledges the problem, stating the system’s original design didn’t anticipate the digit change. They expect a fix within a week and are issuing updates to driving instructors.
According to The Journal, learners need to complete 12 one-hour lessons before test eligibility. Without lesson logs being recorded, booking a test becomes impossible.
The spokesperson apologized for the inconvenience and confirmed work is ongoing to resolve the technical limitation.
