Teenager who died in tractor crash tragedy named locally

The child victim of the weekend tractor accident in south Mayo has been named locally.

Kyle Pilbrow, 13, sadly died on Saturday evening after the tractor he was driving overturned on a road at Scarduane, close to Claremorris.

Around 8.15 p.m., emergency personnel arrived on the site. The teenager received treatment on-site before being transported to University Hospital Galway. Later, he was sent to Dublin’s Temple Street Hospital, where he pronounced dead on Sunday.

Before the road was reopened to traffic on Sunday, a technical inspection of the scene of the collision was conducted.

Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses who were travelling on the L1610 on Saturday evening or any motorists with dash-cam footage to contact them.

The teenager was a first-year student at St. Coleman’s College in Claremorris, a nearby secondary school. His fellow students are receiving counselling services.
