The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) today reported that three Closure Orders were served on food businesses during the month of June for breaches of food safety legislation, pursuant to the FSAI Act, 1998 and the European Union (Official Controls in Relation to Food Legislation) Regulations, 2020. The Closure Orders were issued by environmental health officers in the Health Service Executive (HSE).
One Closure Order was served under the European Union (Official Controls in Relation to Food Legislation) Regulations, 2020 on:
- Golden Asian Street Food and Gala Deli at Gala Shanagolden, Main Street, Shanagolden, Limerick
Two Closure Orders were served under the FSAI Act, 1998 on:
- DFC Take-Away, 82B Dorset Street Lower, Dublin 1
- Saffron Indian Cuisine, Wesley Square, Main Street, Cashel, Tipperary
Some of the reasons for the Closure Orders in June include; rodent droppings found in electrical room in the downstairs of a food business; an infestation of cockroaches with evidence of live and dead cockroaches; kitchen premises were not clean; a pot scrub was caked with grease and a dish cloth left in a container of foul smelling, greasy water stored on a raw meat sink; dead insects found on a chill display unit and live flies observed flying from an open waste bin to an open container of cooked rice stored under a sink used to prepare raw meat; and accumulations of grease, food debris and live ants.
