Alcudia, Majorca – Heartfelt tributes have been paid to Clodagh Phelan, an 11-year-old girl from Co Wicklow, Ireland, who tragically died after falling from a hotel balcony while on holiday in Majorca.

According to RTE, Clodagh was staying with her parents and two brothers at the Club Mac Hotel in Alcudia. The family was due to return to Ireland yesterday. Early yesterday morning, Clodagh fell from the seventh-floor balcony. The Spanish Civil Guard confirmed the fall was an accident.

Taoiseach Simon Harris expressed his condolences on social media, saying there was so much “promise and personality snatched away in a terrible accident.”

Clodagh’s athletics club, Parnell AC, shared their sorrow: “Clodagh was a beautiful, spirited child and a great athlete who excelled in many sports, not just athletics. Her family Valerie, Liam, Will, and David and extended family are in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers at this difficult time.”

Rathdrum Rugby Club also mourned her loss, calling Clodagh “a rare talent with an outstanding future ahead of her.”

Hotel staff discovered Clodagh and alerted emergency services around 7 am local time. Counseling services have been offered to her grieving parents.
