The United Kingdom will move India from ‘red’ to ‘amber’ list set up regarding travel restrictions as part of Covid protocol. UAE, Qatar and Bahrain are also among countries to be moved to amber list, confirmed the UK government.
“India will move to the amber list 4 am, Sunday 8 August (local time),” the UK government said in an update through their website. UK had put India in the red list following the rise in number of Covid cases in India and prevailing Delta variant from April.
The new move means travellers from India do not need hotel quarantine but will have to complete a 10-day quarantine after arriving in the UK. Also, they must present a Covid negative RTPCR test result taken prior to 3 days of departure. Other than this, they have to book two Covid tests upon arrival in advance. Their travel location will also be tracked using passenger locator form.
The two Covid tests should be carried out on or before two days of arrival and then on or after eight days of arrival in the country. The home quarantine exempt ‘fully vaccinated in the UK or under the UK vaccine programme overseas; under 18 on the day you arrive in England and resident in the UK or in a country with a vaccination programme approved by the UK and part of a UK-approved vaccine trial’ stated the update.
