Unemployment rate in Ireland dropped to 4.3 per cent in August, down from 4.7 per cent a month ago, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
The CSO data said the seasonally adjusted number of unemployed people fell by 9,800, dropping from 134,400 in July to 124,600 in August.
Despite the monthly improvement, there has been an annual increase of 3,600 in the seasonally adjusted number of unemployed people compared to August of last year.
The unemployment rate for men saw a decline to 4.3 per cent in August, down from a revised rate of 4.6 per cent in July. This also marks an improvement from the 4.5 per cent rate recorded in August of the previous year.
For women, the unemployment rate also dropped to 4.3 per cent in August, compared to a revised rate of 4.7 per cent in July. However, this is a slight increase from the revised rate of 4.2 per cent recorded in August 2023.
Youth unemployment showed a notable decrease, with the rate falling to 10.7 per cent in August from a revised 11.5 per cent in July.
