Irish Water has introduced a plan to reduce water leakage at homes and offices in the country, aiming at preserving more water and staying away from water scarcity. The Leakage Reduction Programme which was originally started in 2020 is funded over 40 million euros to repair leakage of pipes and install more equipment, had created hundreds of jobs across the state. So far it employed over 400 workers and saved 2.2 million litres of water. The programme is administered in partnership with local authorities and contractors and installed 67 kms of new water mains across Ireland.
