Customers in Dublin, as well as parts of Kildare and Wicklow, are likely to face water supply disruption due to a critical repair work on a major pipeline that supplies the Greater Dublin Area (GDA).
In a statement, Uisce Eireann said it is carrying out repair works to the pipeline connecting Ballymore Eustace Water Treatment Plant and the Saggart Reservoir. It underlined that the repair work is essential to prevent a potential burst on the pipeline that could affect up to 1.7 million customers.
Due to the repair work, customers may experience interruptions to their water supply including low pressure, discoloured water, or water outages on August 13 and 14.
Uisce Eireann further appealed to customers in the GDA to conserve water to help maintain everyone’s water supply during the repair works.
The water utility company also suggested that the disruptions to water supply could spread beyond these areas.
“Customers in Naas, including Mullacash, Ballymore Eustace, Ardenode, Brannockstown, Carnalway, Killashee, Naas East, Naas West, Naas North, Caragh, Rathasker Heights, Bishopshill and surrounding areas will be impacted by a water outage from 9am to 6pm on Tuesday 13th August,” it said.
“Areas in Kildare that are supplied directly from the water main will be impacted by a water outage from 8pm on Monday 12th August, for a 24 hour period. Customers in Arthurstown, Tipperkevin, Rathmore and surrounding areas will be impacted by this interruption to supply,” it added.
