In view of rising incidents of anti-social behaviour in Dublin city centre, the Fianna Fail Parliamentary Party has passed a motion calling for a 24 hour, 7 day a week criminal District Court in the capital, The Journal has reported.
The move follows an online-conducted survey that found that almost 90 per cent of respondents supported Fianna Fail’s call for the 24/7 criminal District Court in Dublin to “ensure offenders could be brought immediately before the court”.
The motion also called for dedicated gardai deployed on a small area policing basis, community service, and restorative justice for those convicted. It also advocated for a minimum 60 minutes foot or pedal bike patrols by gardai on every shift.
The survey showed that over 90 per cent of respondents felt that anti-social behaviour has increased in the last 10 years, while over 70 per cent of them had witnessed drug dealing and drug use in public.
The survey took in the views of approximately 1,500 people.
