No winner even at the 47th draw of €19 million Lotto jackpot; Criticism rises

There was no winner for the record €19 million Lotto jackpot draw took place on Saturday night amid growing criticism. Now the draw rolls over 47 occasions and the prize goes up to €19.06 million this time. There are no winners for the Lotto jackpot since last June.

Fine Gael TD Bernard Durkan last week called for an audit and investigation of the draw as the top jackpot has not been won in almost six months.

“I’m old enough to remember 1988 when there were 36 balls and that’s how it should have stayed,” he said.

“I’ll also be writing to Public Expenditure Minister Michael McGrath, whose department oversees this, to express my concern here and to get his views on the matter,” he added.

As there is no winner, more people will be participating in the next draw and the price money goes up with each draw without a winner.
