On Thursday night, after a fire started inside a Letterkenny to Dublin Expressway service, all 15 passengers were safely evacuated from the vehicle.
Around 8.30 p.m., at the Dry Arch Roundabout outside of Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, the bus caught fire. There were no injuries reported.
Gardaí and other emergency services attended the scene of the incident. The road was immediately cordoned off toallow the fire service to extinguish the blaze.
Bus Eireann said in a statement on social media: “This is an exceptionally rare occurrence in our fleet and will be thoroughly investigated.
“We’d like to thank the emergency services, our driver and passengers for their rapid and effective response. Passengers have been accommodated to continue their journey to Dublin on another vehicle.”
