Three men arrested over fatal Monasterevin attack released without charge

Three men who were arrested following an assault that left a man dead in Monasterevin, County Kildare, have now been released without charge.

The men all in their early 20s were all released on Tuesday night, the gardai said.

After being taken into custody earlier on Tuesday, they were being held in a number of Garda stations in County Kildare.

A file is currently being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), according to Garda.

After being attacked in the early hours of August 21, Dylan McCarthy, a resident of Kilmallock in the county of Limerick, passed away in a hospital on August 22.

The 29-year-old had been attending a family event in Monasterevin.

He was discovered unconscious in Dublin Street following reports of a fight involving many people at a building’s entrance.

He was brought to Tallaght University Hospital, where he eventually passed away.
