Met Éireann is forecasting continued unsettled conditions over the weekend and into next week, with persistent rain, heavy showers, and cooler temperatures expected across Ireland.

Saturday will bring wet and blustery conditions as rain spreads northeastwards across the country, potentially turning heavy or thundery with localised flooding possible. The rain will gradually clear to showers and sunny spells through the afternoon, with temperatures reaching 16 to 21 degrees amid fresh to strong gusty southerly winds that will veer southwesterly as conditions improve.
Sunday will remain breezy and showery, with widespread precipitation that may turn heavy or thundery, again raising the possibility of localised flooding. Showers will merge into longer, more persistent rain periods throughout the day, particularly affecting western and northwestern regions. Limited sunny intervals are expected, with temperatures dropping to 14 to 18 degrees and fresh, gusty southerly winds easing to moderate by evening.
The unsettled pattern will persist into next week, with temperatures remaining cooler than recent days and reaching only the mid to high teens.
Monday will feature sunny spells and widespread showers that may become heavy and thundery before easing in the evening and becoming confined mainly to western areas. Temperatures will range from 14 to 18 degrees with moderate to fresh westerly winds.
Tuesday’s conditions will see showers continuing from the west, though less heavy and widespread than previous days. While sunny spells are expected, more persistent cloud and extended rain periods may affect southern and southeastern coastal areas. Temperatures will hold steady at 15 to 18 degrees with light to moderate winds shifting from southerly to northwesterly.
Wednesday is expected to bring another unsettled day with further showers and potential for more persistent rain across southern regions. Temperatures will cool slightly to 15 to 17 degrees with light westerly or variable winds.
Met Éireann noted significant uncertainty in longer-range forecasts but indicated that unsettled weather with continued rain and showers is likely to persist beyond midweek.
