US cybersecurity company to create 120 jobs in Dublin

US-based cybersecurity company Threatlocker announced that it will create 120 jobs by the end of the year at its office in Dublin.

The company’s headquarters for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa will be in Blanchardstown. ThreatLocker had initially declared plans for the office in early 2021, anticipating that it would generate 50 jobs there.

As the EU gets ready to introduce new legislation, the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), which will impose more cybersecurity requirements on financial services providers, the company claims it is the first step of a significant European expansion plan.

ThreatLocker claims that by expanding to Ireland, it hopes to take advantage of DORA and the growing demands on businesses to enhance their cybersecurity.

”Launching in Dublin today is a major strategic milestone for ThreatLocker as we begin our expansion into the European marketplace,” said ThreatLocker’s Chief Executive and Co-Founder Danny Jenkins.

“Our company has many Irish links and Dublin is the EU headquarters of so many major global companies, so it is the perfect location,” he added.

ThreatLocker said it has ambitious targets for growth and is aiming to strengthen its foothold in the EMEA region as it works with businesses to protect against cyberattacks including ransomware.

“Cybersecurity is an increasing problem for many businesses with the number of sophisticated cyberattacks increasing day by day, costing businesses huge amounts of money,” Mr. Jenkins said.

Cyber Ireland published a report in May outlining the potential for the cybersecurity industry to create 17,000 jobs in Ireland.

490 businesses currently employ 7,500 people in the sector, which brings in about €1.1 billion annually for the Irish economy.
