1,293 more Covid cases in the country; CMO urges considerable preparations before sending children school

Further 1,293 Covid-19 infections have been reported in Ireland today amid discussions to fully reopen society going under way. As per the latest data, 382 Covid patients are in hospitals and 61 of them are in ICUs. The number of patients has been increased by 35 from yesterday.

Meanwhile the full roadmap of easing restrictions will be announced by the government tomorrow, it is believed. The cabinet sub-committee discussion on the matter has resumed today after five and a half hours meeting on Friday.

Minister Eamon Ryan today indicated most restrictions will be eased in October. Including those on the hospitality sector. The decision on easing restrictions on the entertainment sector is need to be finalized.

Meanwhile the Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan advised parents not to send their children if they have any symptoms, ahead of planned school reopening. He also insisted on taking precautions while mingling with classmates in school and to help prevent further transmissions and potential outbreaks.
