Aldi Ireland issue urgent recall of popular product over salmonella fears

Aldi Ireland is recalling the above batch of The Foodie Market Milled Brown Flaxseed due to the detection of Salmonella Typhimurium.

Recall notices will be displayed in Aldi stores that sold the implicated L131315 batch, which was a 200g pack size and has a best before the date of January 2023.

People infected with Salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection, but this can range between 6 and 72 hours. The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which can sometimes be bloody.  Other symptoms may include fever, headache and abdominal cramps. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days. Diarrhoea can occasionally be severe enough to require hospital admission. The elderly, infants and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a more severe illness.

If you have purchased flaxseed from the implicated batch, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland recall notice advises that you refrain from eating the product and return it to your nearest Aldi store for a full refund

EHOs are requested as part of their routine checks to verify that the implicated batch is recalled from sale in Aldi stores. Please notify FSAI (foodincidents@fsai.ie) of any concerns.
