The technology giant Apple introduces a new plan aiming to help its customers repair phone and other electronic equipment themselves at home. The plan known as ‘Self Service Repair’ will make Apple genuine parts and tools available for the customers for the first time.
The plan will begin officially in the US next year and more countries will follow shortly, confirmed Apple. At first, parts of iPhone 12 and 13 are expected under the plan. Display, battery and camera parts are on the list for first phase of the plan.
Customers can order parts from ‘Self Service Repair Online Store’. There will be rewards for items that are given for recycling, said the company.
According to the company, the plan makes the users comfortable by carrying out the repairs at home.
“Creating greater access to Apple genuine parts gives our customers even more choice if a repair is needed,” Apple chief operating officer Jeff Williams said in wake of the plan.
“In the past three years, Apple has nearly doubled the number of service locations with access to Apple genuine parts, tools, and training, and now we’re providing an option for those who wish to complete their own repairs.” he added.
