‘Beautiful World, Where Are You’ by Sally Rooney voted Novel of the Year at An Post Irish Book Awards

Beautiful World, Where Are You by Sally Rooney has been voted Novel of the Year at the An Post Irish Book Awards 2021. Rooney’s previous novel Normal People too had won the award earlier in the same category.

We Don’t Know Ourselves: A Personal History of Ireland Since 1958 by Fintan O’Toole won Non-Fiction Book of the Year.

Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen won Popular Fiction Book of the Year for Aisling and the City. This one is the fourth in the series and the duo win this award for the third time in four years.

The award ceremony was held virtually on the RTE website on Tuesday where 187,000 readers from the public participated in the voting.

The winner will be announced on RTE One on December 8th.

Other awards include Louise Nealon – Newcomer of the Year for Snowflake, Catherine Ryan Howard –  Crime Fiction Book of the Year and Keith Earls – Sport Book of the Year for Fight Or Flight: My Life, My Choices.
