Bray’s popular Box Burger restaurant has declared that it will be closing next month.
The restaurant first opened in 2015, but it will close its doors on November 6, Dublin Live reported.
Box Burger mentioned the “rising costs in the industry” in a social media post, saying they are “no stranger to this.”
They wrote: “We are sad to announce that Box Burger will be closing on Sunday 6th November. The last seven years have been an absolute blast but unfortunately the time has come for Box Burger to say goodbye. This was an extremely tough decision and not something we ever wanted to happen.
“Everyone is aware of the rising costs in the industry and Box Burger was no stranger to this with a high energy consuming kitchen and so many other economic variables at this time we were left with no other option.”
However, the restaurant said they “want to remember all the positive things that Box Burger accomplished” rather than focusing on the negativity.
“We want to thank our amazing customers for their support over the years, praise our staff for their hard work and dedication and look back on all the good times and wonderful memories we created since 2015,” they said. “We are extremely proud of everything our restaurant and team achieved over the years.
“We were so lucky to be involved in so many amazing events like Box on Tour, where our Box Burger container headed out on the road to a host of festivals including Big Grill Festival, Electric Picnic, Groove Festival, Eatyard residency and more. We launched Vox Burger, our 100% Vegan Menu.
“And during Covid lockdowns we did everything possible and adapted our business model to introduce Box Burger DIY kits and takeaway so that customers could enjoy a taste of their favourite Box Burger at home. Thank you to everyone for their love and support over the last seven years.
“There’s still a small amount of time left to join us for your favourite burgers. We’d love to see you before we go, just be sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment.”
Many locals expressed their sadness at the news, with one describing it as “a real shame”.
