Cork City Council has issued its second flood warning in less than 24 hours for the city centre.
Due to strong astronomical Spring tides, some low-lying quays may flood during high tide this evening at 6.56 pm, tomorrow at 07.17 am, and again at 7.34 pm, according to the local council.
Morrison’s Quay, Fr. Mathew Quay, Trinity Bridge, Union Quay, Sharman Crawford Street, Wandesford Quay, Frenche’s Quay, Proby’s Quay, Crosses Green, Lavitt’s Quay, Kyrl’s Quay are among the most vulnerable areas.
The South Terrace, Rutland Street, Sawmill Street, and the South Mall are also under risk of flooding, the council said.
There were reports of tidal water on some city centre streets this morning, but no flooding of homes or businesses.
The Cork City Council had predicted “minor” tidal flooding at high tide.
Sherman Crawford Street, Wandesford Quay, Fr Mathew Quay, and Morrison’s Island in the city centre are among the streets affected.
