The High court had made its verdict that the detention of the South African women in hotel quarantine is not unlawful. Justice Brian O’Moore had made it clear that the detention was according to the mandatory hotel quarantine rules of the state for travelers from red listed countries.
The detentioned women, Ms Heyns challenged the health department and put out her arguments that she had been vaccinated completely and the State had put her under detention unlawfully. She also pointed out that the process of detention was unsatisfactory.
The challenge was put against the minister for health and against the hotel operators. The Justice at last dismissed the challenge and made the verdict that detention was done lawfully and no breach of legislation was done. The verdict also says that if Ms Heyns tests Covid negative on Monday, she could be released from hotel quarantine. He also says that further issues will be dealt on April 23, Friday.
