Dublin Airport flights diverted due to thunderstorms

Yesterday evening, a number of flights headed for Dublin Airport were diverted due to thunderstorms near the city.

For eleven counties, including Dublin, a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning remained in effect until 9 p.m. on Monday, and Met Eireann issued a warning of spot flooding and hazardous driving conditions.

Due to the poor weather, multiple flights landing at Dublin Airport were put into holding patterns after 7pm, and at eleven flights were diverted to other airports. Later in the evening, all planes made their way back to Dublin.

Arrivals resumed shortly after 8pm as the thunderstorms subsided.

A spokesman for daa told Dublin Live: “Electrical storms in the vicinity of Dublin Airport led to some disruption on Monday evening with a number flights being diverted to other airports. A total of 11 flights were diverted, with all aircraft returning to Dublin Airport later in the evening.”
