Popular telecommunication company Eir records a growth in revenue by 1% to €320 million amid allegations of overcharging customers. The Commission for Communications Regulation (Comerg) had recently filed a lawsuit against Eircom alleging that the company overcharged around 71,000 customers since 2015 and earned an extra €4.7 million by this wrongdoing.
Amid the allegations, Eir has seen an increase of postpay mobile customer base by 10% and TV customers by 6%. The company also had a stable third quarter ending on September 30, where it recorded earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) of €142m.
Meanwhile the firm’s wholesale customer base increased by 3% or 13,000 while retail customers fell by a similar amount.
Eir is expecting continued growth in future as demand for fibre and mobile network keep on increasing.
“We expect a continued strong performance into the future, with further growth in revenue and EBITDA, continued business streamlining and optimisation, strong cash generation, and important capital expenditure on our fibre and mobile networks to drive future growth.” Stephen Tighe, Eir’s chief financial officer said.
