Anyone aged 16 and above in Ireland will get a Covid vaccine booster shot. The recommendation by the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) has been accepted by Health Minister Stephen Donnelly today.
Pregnant women aged 16 and older are prioritised for the booster roll out plan, followed by everyone aged 40-49 and then those aged 16-39.
People who have completed five months after the second dose are eligible for an mRNA vaccine booster shot.
In the case of those 16–39-year-olds who received the Janssen jab as their primary vaccine, they can be offered a booster dose irrespective of their age after a minimum three-month interval.
For those who tested positive for the corona virus, booster shots will be given only after six months of infection.
Booster shots are already been offered for those with underlying conditions, regardless of age.
