The 150th Dublin Horse Show has commenced at the RDS in Ballsbridge, marking a historic milestone with five days of world-class equestrian competition featuring a €1.4 million prize fund across 168 competitions.

Over 1,600 horses will compete throughout the week, attracting more than 120,000 spectators to witness the prestigious anniversary event. A special exhibition celebrating the show’s 150-year history is displayed in the main concert hall.
Wednesday’s opening day features the Minerva Stakes and Sport Ireland Classic, followed by Thursday’s Anglesea Speed Stake. The show includes extensive young horse classes in showing, eventing, and show jumping, drawing international buyers seeking Irish-bred talent.
Friday’s highlight is the traditional Aga Khan Nations Cup, where eight top international teams compete. Defending champions USA face strong competition from Canada, Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain, Mexico, Switzerland, and hosts Ireland.
Irish team manager Michael Blake has selected experienced riders Denis Lynch, Cian O’Connor, and Darragh Kenny alongside emerging stars Tom Wachman and Seamus Hughes Kennedy. O’Connor emphasized the significance of competing on home soil, saying “The Irish team is strong and motivated — we’re determined to retain the Nations Cup title.”
Saturday features the famous Puissance high jump competition, while Sunday’s finale showcases the prestigious Rolex Grand Prix of Ireland, concluding this landmark anniversary celebration of Irish equestrian excellence.
