New €10 Annual Permit System for Dublin Airport Taxis Sparks Driver Concerns

In a bid to streamline operations and generate revenue, Dublin Airport has introduced a €10 annual permit system for taxi drivers collecting pre-booked fares from the airport’s car parks. Despite pushback from drivers who argue the move will lead to longer wait times and reduced availability, Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) spokesperson Graeme McQueen dismisses these concerns.

Under the new system, drivers picking up pre-booked passengers must purchase a €10 permit annually, equivalent to less than 30 cents per day. McQueen assures that there will be no significant impact on passengers, who can continue to pre-book taxis and collect them from any of the airport’s car parks.

While drivers express dissatisfaction with the changes, DAA emphasizes the minimal cost and maintains that the streamlined process will benefit both the airport and passengers alike.
