Immigration remains the pressing issue for most of the Irish citizens for the second consecutive month and for the fourth time this year, according to a report in The Irish Times.
The issue of immigration was closely following by the housing crisis in the country, as per the findings of the monthly poll conducted on 1,000 Irish adults by Ipsos B&A.
The findings also suggest that immigration and housing were clearly prominent in voters’ mind during the recently conducted local and European elections.
Around 31 per cent of those aged between 18 and 34 identified housing as the prominent issue in comparison to 18 per cent mentioning immigration. This was, however, not the case among the over-55s who are more focused on immigration (33 per cent) as opposed to housing (16 per cent).
Israel/Palestine conflict, healthcare system and climate change were among the other key themes that gained voters’ attention.
Ireland is expected to go to national polls by next year in March.
