The Ireland cricket team wants Sanju Samson to be a part of their squad and has reportedly promised him a chance in all matches.
Sanju Samson, the star wicketkeeper batter for the Indian team, has consistently been ignored by management despite his outstanding performances whenever he plays for India.
He was passed over by the BCCI for the T20 World Cup in 2022, and he was also passed over for the current series against Bangladesh. He had previously been chosen for the New Zealand tour but was only able to participate in one game.
Sanju Samson is wanted by the Ireland Cricket Association because the team is said to be in need of a skipper-cum-batter. The ace cricketer, however, is said to have turned down the offer.
Although Sanju thanked Ireland for considering him, the cricketer reportedly said he could only play for India and that he could never imagine playing cricket for another nation.
Sanju Samson, a captain for Rajasthan Royal, played a fantastic captaincy role in the Indian Premier League, putting in an exemplary performance. Ireland’s cricket president offered Sanju Samson to play international cricket for Ireland’s National Team, and he ensured that Sanju would be the team’s skipper and play all the matches.
“We will let him play all the matches if he is in our national team. He is a very impressive batter and he is one of the rare talent. We provide him an offer to play the matches from our national team. Our team required a skipper and batter like him. If the Indian team is overlooking him then he can join us, we respect him and make him play every match,” said Ireland’s cricket president.
In reply to the offer from Ireland’s president, Sanju said “First of all, I want to thank Ireland’s cricket president for considering me for this role but I can’t accept his offer. I started my cricketing to play for Indian national cricket team. I don’t want to play for any other nation or can’t even think to play for another nation. I can’t accept this offer and I want to say sorry to Ireland’s cricket president.”
