Ireland’s 147th railway station will open to the public on Sunday, providing new transport links for communities in south County Dublin.

Woodbrook Station, located between Bray and Shankill, will serve the existing and developing communities of Woodbrook and Shanganagh. The station represents a significant investment in public transport infrastructure for the growing residential area.
The new facility will offer up to 191 daily DART services on weekdays, with journey times of approximately 40 minutes to Dublin city center stations. Access to the station is via Woodbrook Avenue, with construction work having begun in November 2023.
Iarnród Éireann has advised passengers of minor timetable changes affecting DART, Rosslare, Northern, and Maynooth Commuter services to accommodate the new station and improve overall service performance. Updated timetables are available on the company’s website.
The station design incorporates provisions for future pedestrian and cycling access routes in the surrounding area, reflecting sustainable transport planning principles.
An Iarnród Éireann spokesperson welcomed the addition, stating it will provide “fast, frequent and sustainable travel options” for the growing community. The opening comes as residential development continues in the Woodbrook and Shanganagh areas, with the new station expected to serve increasing passenger numbers as the community expands.
