Motorcyclist (30s) killed in crash with car on M18 in Shannon, Co Clare

A motorcyclist in his late 30s has been killed in a road traffic collision in Co Clare

The biker collided with a car on the M18 in Shannon just after 4 pm on Monday.

The man was fatally injured in the crash.

His body has been taken to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem will be carried out.

The driver of the car and four passengers were uninjured.

Units of Clare County Fire Rescue Service from Shannon station responded to the incident along with National Ambulance Service resources and gardaí.

The road remained closed on Monday evening as a forensic investigation was carried out and it is expected to remain closed overnight.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who were travelling in the area at this time and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
