Ireland has a stunning victory over Australia in the international friendly football match took place at Tallaght Stadium yesterday night. The match was one of the biggest after the ease of Covid restrictions and 3,314 spectators were present.
The higher ranked Australia found it very difficult to defend the attacking Irish Women and on the other hand the hosts were very energetic in front of the cheering supporters. Throughout the match, Ireland showed much confidence and took the historical victory subsequently.
At the end of the first half, fans where on the edge of the seat with a score of 2-2. While Denise O’Sullivan smashed for Ireland, the another goal was a self by Australia’s Mackenzie Arnold. Mary Fowler scored twice for the visitors.
In the second half, the confidence and ground support thrived Ireland to the victory with Louise Quinn’s header goal at the 49th minute. Though the goal possession was 71% for the Australian team throughout the match, failures in defense had to pay a huge price at the end. Australian players also received two yellow cards.
