Supermarket chain Lidl has announced that they will recruit 750 new workers and there will be a pay rise for all of its workers this year.
The company has 214 stores across Ireland and the new roles will be distributed to these stores. Other than the stores, Lidl has its head office in Dublin and four regional distribution centres.
There will be openings for operational based and office based jobs.
The pay rise will come into effect from March 1st and according to the company, €10 million has been allocated exclusively for this. Currently Lidl has about 6,100 employees working in the island of Ireland.
The pay rise come into effect following a recommendation by the Living Wage Technical Group. They had recommended the minimum wage to be increased to €12.90. It is also considered as a recognition to the frontline workers during the Covid-19 pandemic, said Lidl.
