A new survey has revealed growing concern among teachers about the lack of adequate training and clear guidelines on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education.

The research, based on responses from over 1,000 members of the Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI), showed that 85 per cent believe AI threatens fairness in assessments.
Meanwhile, 93 per cent said the Department of Education and the Department of Further and Higher Education must provide proper training for educators on AI, and 95 per cent believe more information and guidance are urgently needed.
The findings come ahead of the TUI Annual Congress, set to begin in Wexford tomorrow.
The survey also highlighted ongoing concerns around teacher shortages, the affordability of the profession for new entrants, excessive workloads, and proposed reforms to the Senior Cycle.
