A man died following a fatal road traffic collision in Co Meath on Monday morning.
The incident happened at 1.55 am on Patrick Street in Trim when a car collided with a wall.
Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene immediately after the collision.
The driver of the car, a man aged in his 40s, was rushed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where he later passed away.
The car involved had come to the attention of gardai prior to the incident so An Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) has been notified.
The scene is currently closed to allow for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct a technical examination.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai in Trim are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.
“Any person who was in the vicinity of Patrick Street between 1.30 am and 2.00 am this morning, including any road users who may have camera footage (including dashcam), is asked to get in touch.
