In Co. Cork, a man’s body was discovered at the foot of a stairwell in “unexplained circumstances,” prompting Garda to launch an investigation.
The garda and emergency services were called to a Mallow apartment shortly after 7 o’clock on Thursday night.
It is understood that the body of the man in his 50s was found at the foot of a stairwell in an apartment in Mallow.
His body was taken to Cork University Hospital after being declared dead at the scene, according to Gardai.
Gardaí have described the circumstances surrounding the death as “unexplained”.
A postmortem will be conducted on Friday morning.
